Is that the one written by Venus A. Dodge? I just got a copy of that -- our public library was weeding it out of the collection, so I was able to buy it for 25 cents. Their loss, my gain! http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/smile.png

Re: Just excited Update 9/15:It came!!

I have that book, too! I love that she tells you which patterns would be appropriate for which eras. Apparently AG dolls are actually a size or two up from her "18 inch" patterns-- I think I read it's better to use the 20-22 inch patterns? I haven't actually made anything from the book yet, but I'm planning to make a pinafore for Olive and a couple of dresses for Eva.

My girls: Kirsten Johanna Larson (c. 1854: Ryd, Sweden/ Minnesota), Olive Leah Fonseca (c. 1887: East London, UK), Eva Marie Graff (c. 1926: Upper Michigan)

Congrats! I got a copy of that book before it went out of print and it is **awesome**.  As far as figuring out which size to use, the author recommends measuring your doll's bust size and then finding the bodice piece in the book that comes the closest to that measurement (with the seam allowance added in, of course)--it's a little bit more accurate than just going by the doll's height.
