In your opinion...

What retired doll do you guys think is the most saught after... the hardest to find and when you do find it... its SUPER EXPENSIVE!! Could be historical or girl of the year.

I have been looking for a Kirsten on Ebay and good lord they want so much for her in good shape! And even in bad shape they want a ton!

My Felicity wasn't that hard to find at a good price and she came in mint condition.

So what do you think? What is that one doll that you really want but just so hard to find??

Re: In your opinion...

Kanani, IMO, is easily the most expensive eBay doll. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of them in circulation, but they're also nearly all priced at exorbitant levels. I'm very lucky to have bought mine in 2011.

#4 can also be hard to find in good condition - especially if you're looking for the modified version, it can be *very* challenging to find one. I wound up spending a lot more than what was reasonable on mine because I knew that I wouldn't find another with new bangs and in such great condition again soon. Most of these dolls are also used or PC, and though some prefer PC dolls, I find myself predisposed to Mattel ones. So it's not too bad finding a used, older 4, but it can be very hard to find a newer one.

There aren't any dolls that I'm currently looking for on the secondary market, thank goodness. It can be a huge PITA around the holidays!

Just for the sake of speculation, I think Cécile will be in much higher demand a few years (maybe 5?) down the line. Perhaps Marie-Grace will be as well, but I do think Cécile in particular'll be popular with collectors that missed out from 2011-14.

Re: In your opinion...

Wow you are right, Kanani is averaging like $300-$400.... why?? Idk... But it makes me want to build a time machine and buy like 50 of them at her regular price lol!

Re: In your opinion...

Sonali also goes for stupid high amounts. I've never seen a Sonali complete for less than $250. So glad I got her in 2009.

I suspect that Cecile will go for a lot down the road because she was out for such little time compared to other historicals. Maybe the same for Marie-Grace, because of her currently unique face mold.

We're now at Zetaboards!

Re: In your opinion...

Kanani, Sonali and Marisol are some of my dream dolls.... Which are well and truly not a viable option for me. Marisol isn't too bad sometimes... Though still out of my price range when ever I look

But a girl can dream!!

Re: In your opinion...

I'm really lucky because I got Kanani at retail price. At this time, I don't crave any dolls that are no longer available. What gets me is how obsessed people are with that migraine-inducing flower hairclip of Kanani's. You can get lovely hibiscus or plumeria hair clips for under $8 on Etsy. But, I'm the same with pretty much every ribbon and clip AG sells. People go crazy over things I've seen at the beauty warehouse for $1. I don’t get it.

Sometimes I think it's the name that people want to pay for.  Like some sort of status symbol sort of thing.  When the BeForever meet outfits were released people were flipping their lids because the hair accessories weren't included.

Re: In your opinion...

I'm going with Cecile for historical girls and Kanani for GOTY. Adding Ivy and Ruthie on the historical side.

I kinda understand, because I really like having all the original parts to something, too. Every time I seriously look at Lindseys on ebay, I always check to see if they have their barrettes before I consider considering them, heh. ... On the other hand, flower hair clips -are- really easy to buy or make, and not just for people who live in the islands. And Kanani's really isn't anything special, imo; I'm surprised they used a flower that gets tattered around the edges as easily as it does.

Re: In your opinion...

I am a total freak about wanting the AG versions of ribbons and hair bobs.  And crappy plastic bits of things too. I bought an entire second set of Addy's Songbird and Sweets (granted it was during the big truck sale in 2010ish when Mattel was selling off pre-lead law versions of accessories and it was only $8, but still...) just for the yellow ribbon that ties up the candy box.  As to the elusive sprig of holly that goes with her Sweet Potato Pudding set, don't get me started!
